1. 今天是阴天 Jīntiān shì yīntiān – literally means “today is a cloudy day”.

The opposite would be 今天是晴天Jīntiān shì qíngtiān (“Today is a sunny day”).

2. 下雨 xià yŭ – literally means “the rain is falling”.We do not need any additional subject, as in English (“it is raining”).

Same with snow: 下雪xiàxuě.

3. When 这 zhè precedes a noun, we need to use a measure word:

这条裙子 zhè tiáo qúnzi

"this skirt"

这件毛衣 zhè jiàn máoyī

"this sweater"
